Are you confined to a wheel chair?  I have worked with a client that went through a complete home renovation to make it handicap accessible.  From finding a step less ranch home, within pushing range of a MARTA rail station, building ramps to get him inside, working with the 203k loan consultant on the individual needs, I got an education on your needs.  The lowered switches, lowered counters and cabinets, wider doorways or offset hinges, roll in shower all had to be considered in choosing a home that could be modified to work.  In time, I hope all homes will be built handicap accessible from the start.
